Sessions run 45 minutes with 15 for questions. Workshops are capped and fill first. Codes are used on your badge and in the papers.

- The forum is a commercial and technical meeting. Territorial, political and historical matters sit outside the programme, and outside the room.
- Every list we publish — ports, languages, delegations, sponsors — is in alphabetical order, and stays that way.
- Sessions are chaired to time. A chair who lets a session run into politics will close it early.
- Roundtables run under the Chatham House Rule. Use what you hear; don't say who said it.
- Interpretation is provided in English, Japanese, Korean and Mandarin, in all main rooms, for all three days.
